Sumario:Public policy has an impact on teacher training by providing common guidelines, in the Chilean case, one of which is the Guiding Standards for Graduates of Basic Education Pedagogy Careers. The standards break down into indicators and are conceived as support instruments for teacher training institutions. The research seeks to learn about the approach to standards and indicators in initial teacher training. Methodologically, this is a descriptive study that analyzes the training programs for elementary school teachers in history and its didactics in four Chilean regional universities. The analysis is carries out through a matrix that makes it possible to visualize the explicit or implicit presence of the training standard son their indicators. As a conclusion, the prioritization of disciplinary aspects over didactic processes and partial coverage at the level of standards and unspecific coverage for their indicators is recognized.
