Sumario:The following presentation is set within research Project B-246, Pedagogical mountain practices in Physical Education in southern South America: teacher training and various education levels, National University of Comahue, Regional Center Bariloche. The aim of the presentation is to share experiences and criteria taken into account when defining safety protocols to carry out mountain practices in Physical Education. This instance is part of the spectrum of risk management, being it a continuous process that includes pedagogical, didactic, and legal matters as well as context analysis, type of practice, group profile, and gear required, among others (Ayora, 2008). Documents and current regulations/ordinances of various institutions are analyzed, as well as the distinctive features of each activity, being the combination of these variables some items to consider when planning specific protocols to carry out educational practices in mountain environments.
