Sumario:This paper presents a descriptive approach to teacher training in social sciences and history, starting from political and normative criteria as defined by the Colombian state and suggests some discussion with regard to financing, administration and management about academic programs, the relationship between higher education, other levels of from the Colombian educational system and social environment, the relevance of teacher training in social sciences and history, academic aspects of the programs.
