| Sumario: | Although it is recognized that the reading of specialized texts is essential in academic settings, it constitutes a real challenge for university students due to the particular characteristics of this type of texts, the disciplinary specificities they reflect and the fact that they are largely available only in English. Thus, it is important to know in depth the characteristics of the texts generally used for teaching disciplinary content in undergraduate courses at university level. The objective of this work is to present the main results of the analysis of the semantic, functional and formal features of a corpus made up of research articles corresponding to three disciplinary areas. The results reveal that the texts belonging to these disciplinary areas present traits in common as well as particular characteristics in each of the three levels analyzed. These findings are expected to serve as the basis for an in-depth analysis of this type of texts in other disciplines not contemplated in this study and to contribute to the design of study programs and teaching materials for the teaching of English for academic purposes at the higher level adjusted to the specificities of each discipline. |
