Sumario:The article explores contemporary configurations of popular households to describe representations about family, conjugality and the itself. In this key, it seeks to capture the features of a change that is still emerging in the popular universe. It is associated with the identification of individualization processes and family logics that prioritize the self-realization of family members and the emotional well-being of the family group. These processes are carried out in precarious housing and in tension with a traditional model of division of family roles partially in force. In order to identify the dynamic dimension and the ongoing character of this process, the argument prioritizes a longitudinal analysis of the biographical trajectories of three middle-aged women from a popular neighborhood. In this sense, the change of representations and practices alluded to is reconstructed in the trajectories, rather than described in terms of generational change.
