Sumario:In the article we deal with the complex link between what we call the intellectual of culture and sociology in Argentina. We are interested in such a relationship as the ideas and practices of the intellectual of culture are gravitating in the construction of social sciences in our country. The proposals of sociologist Horacio González summarize exemplarily the aforementioned mediation. In the text we reconstruct the nuclear aspects of the author's positioning and discuss its limitations. Special attention is paid to the criticism made by González to the scientific and theoretical forms of intellectual practice, which he describes as "low styles". In opposition to this the author conceives the philosophy and the essayistic tradition as "high styles". His radical questioning of Germani's sociological project and Marxism makes sense from this simplifying classification. From the arguments accumulated throughout the analysis, we finally propose to characterize González's project as a historical culturalist deconstructivism. From this product we seek to feed the essential discussion on the foundations and identities of sociology and national and regional social sciences at the time of the inauguration of the Career of Sociology at the National University of Córdoba.
