Sumario:This article discusses the production of adult responsibilities regarding children’s education and schooling, focusing on the specific situation of monoparental families and the representations on them. Thus, this topic is contextualized in relation to the contemporary modes of attribution of responsibilities to mothers and fathers concerning their children are schooling processes, and the implications of such modes for monoparental families. Moreover, we analyze the everyday practices and meanings that take place in monoparental families relating to children’s education. The empirical referents that allow this analysis come from the fieldwork carried out in different stages of research, developed from a historical-ethnographic approach, in different places of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires City between 1999 and the present.
