In those, Crítica journalists interviewed inmates at the Viedma prison (Argentina) and offer to readers a particular representation of the education and the life of prisoners behind the cells. All of this can be related with a series of changes in the sensitivity of the time. In these articles, the prisoners' life stories are organized discursively from various events (childhood, work, sentimental life), among which their educational experiences pay particular attention. We hypothesizes that those documents make visible the existence of mechanisms of the newspaper to establish a representation of the prison as a space for the rehabilitation of the inmates to social life. Apart from that, the investigation among the school education of convbicts is a key to mark a frontier between the kind of sensitivity that the newspaper wants to promote - civilized sensitivity - and another that still survives - barbaric sensitivity. Este trabajo se propone analizar una serie de notas que el diario Crítica publicó entre julio y agosto de 1933 bajo el título “Hablan desde la cárcel los hijos de Martín Fierro” en las que los cronistas del diario Crítica, de gran difusión en todo el país, entrevistaban a los confinados en la cárcel de Viedma (Argentina). En todas ellas hay una particular representación de los presidiarios, de su educación y de su vida tras las celdas, acorde con una serie de cambios en la sensibilidad de la época. En estos artículos, las historias de vida de los presos se organizan discursivamente a partir de varios acontecimientos (infancia, trabajo, vida sentimental, etc.) entre los cuales cobran una particular atención sus experiencias educativas. Proponemos como hipótesis que este conjunto de entrevistas son documentos que hacen visible la existencia de mecanismos propios del diario para establecer una representación de la cárcel como un espacio de readaptación de los inculpados a la vida social, y que la indagación en el nivel de educación escolar de los presos es clave, en tanto y en cuanto marca una frontera entre el tipo de sensibilidad que el diario quiere fomentar –la sensibilidad civilizada– y otro que pervive aún –la sensibilidad bárbara–.
