Sumario:Love is treated in King Alfonso X's Cantigas de Santa Maria at multiple levels: passion between man and woman out of wedlock, courtly love (fin? amors), marital love between spouses that have made an oath, and virginal love, equivalent to monastic consecration. In the cantigas de loor, King Alfonso presents himself as troubadour of St. Mary and his entendedor (lover whose wooing has been accepted). But the final stage of the courtly love scale is the one of drudaria, which in the alfonsine originality is equalled to the motif of the sponsus marianus.
