| Sumario: | Both sexes of the hitherto Holarctic, Afrotropical and Oriental species Forcipomyia (Synthyridomyia) murina (Winnertz, 1852) are redescribed and the species is firstly recorded from Argentina (Salta, La Rioja, Santiago del Estero, Córdoba, Corrientes, Buenos Aires and Río Negro provinces). Forcipomyia (S.) calchaqui Spinelli & Marino, 1997 and Forcipomyia (S.) soibelzoni Marino & Spinelli, 2001 are recognized as its junior synonyms. A key for the identification of the four species of the subgenus that inhabit the Neotropical region is also presented, and F. murina is compared with the most similar Old World species. |
