Sumario:The aim of this article is to analyze how the psychological knowledge defined conceptualizations about motherhood and childhood in several articles written by doctors for the magazine Madre y Niño, published in Argentina in the mid-thirties. The use of psychological knowledge about the bond between mothers and sons, would have provided scientific legitimation to Medicine in order to define its own field of expertise. Psychology in Argentina was able to develop a common ground with other fields of knowledge such as Medicine, taking into account its attempt to differ from other popular knowledges, considered harmful and non-scientific. This field of expertise can be framed in the process of disciplinarization of psychological knowledge and can be described as a tendency towards a social intervention.
