Sumario:The Distributed Software Development (DSD) has been increasingly adopted by software development companies since it provides support for a better use of their material, human and time resources. However, it presents challenges from geographical distance, time and cultural differences. So, different teams are faced to communication problems which affect directly the quality of the product generated. During software development several artifacts are generated, and they may change during their life. Therefore it is important that such information can be captured and properly dealt in order to be disseminated and used. The purpose of this paper is to present a mechanism to capture contextual information of Java source code files, from a repository for distributed version control. Then, they are stored in a XML file, making they more flexible to be used by other tools. It will also contribute to improve production in DSD.
