Sumario:This study was motivated by the difficulties in listening comprehension experienced by students of English as a second language who are currently attending English Phonetics and Phonology 1, which belongs to the first year of the course of studies of English Translation, English Language and Literature Teaching, and Bachelor’s Degree in English, at Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Our aim is to find out which problems students faced when watching the video material used in our study, why they experienced these problems, and how we can find a potential solution for them. Our hypothesis is that students will find more difficulties when confronted with videos that deal with specific or academic content rather than those that belong to movies. For such purposes, we carried out some fieldwork and we worked with different reference materials as well.
