description The works and ideas of Edwin Gordon, an American researcher who owes some of the greatest contributions in the Psychology of Music and Musical Pedagogy of the time, have aroused great interest in the Portuguese Music Education scene. His research into the assessment of musical fitness and performance, his theory of musical learning, and especially what he proposes as musical orientations for newborns and children in preschool age have had a huge echo in our country. Rather than exposing the principles of his theory, I propose in this text to share some reflections and personal meanings that the privileged contact with this researcher has provided me since 1994.
