| Sumario: | This essay examines the conditions that led to the successive elections of Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori. The essay focuses on the analysis of the following themes: political and electoral processes in the 1990s, the role of the Armed Forces, the role of legislative and judicial powers and the constitutional legislation of authoritarian projects. The wiork concludes with an analisys of the events that resulted in Fujimori's unexpected decision, in September, 2000, to relinquish the presidency next year. |
