Sumario:This study was carried out with the aim to describe the perceptions of students at Pedagogy in Primary Education programs about the training they received in the field of language and how prepared they feel to teach in this area. A survey was held among 276 alumni of eight universities in Chile. The results show that the students assess their training positively and that they value the practical aspects of training more than the theoretical parts. They perceive that more importance is given to reading and writing than to oral aspects, literature, grammar and learning problems.
