Sumario:In Misiones province –northeast of Argentina- during the 90`s the yerba mate `s crisis caused a migration of rural settlers, including farmers and agricultural workers with rural residence, to the periphery of intermediate cities in the province. In these new territories, where most population depend on temporary work in the yerba mate harvest - tarefa - and construction-related occupations, there are several family transformatios. In the present study María Luz Roa aims to understand the impact of urbanization on the forms of tareferos `s family organizations. For its development, the author constructs a family typology that includes a static and dynamic criterium. In this regard, she observes an important diversification of family types and a substantial acceleration in intra-family dynamics types that raises questions related to the family postmodernization thesis. To assess these processes, she adopts a triangular approach, combining data from an inquest of peri-urban households in Oberá city and qualitative information from ethnographic fieldworks.
