Sumario:The narrative poem has a long tradition in Western literature and from this source derive some works with significant contribution to the process of formation of the Brazilian literature. As part of a larger study, which aimed at studying the contemporary Brazilian narrative poem, in its formal peculiarities, thematic narrative and especially the status of its narrator, this paper presents the analysis of a poem by Mário de Andrade, in which he addresses the formal and the thematic peculiarities, and considers the poet’s place in the national literary historiography.
