Sumario:Unemployment and underemployment, affecting a high proportion of the labor force represent nowadays a big economic and social concern. Poverty spreads widely, and social policies placed are incapable to stop it, because poverty is mainly explained by the unequal distribution of income, which in its turn is explained by the low salaries received by workers. Precarization of labor has contributed to deepen the unequal distribution of income, and has negatively impacted the effective demand and the quality of life of the majority of population. This paper advocates putting in place, as a universal right of the population, a universal citizen’s income which will work as an alternative source of income for the most vulnerable population
