Sumario:In this article we highlight a few trends in the territorial and demographic growth of Merida, Yucatan, and its metropolitan area, emphasizing recent forms of neoliberal urbanization with its concomitant social and spatial impact. The study will characterize these processes in the capital city, Merida, and in four suburban locations: the heads of the municipalities of Kanasín and Uman, and the counties of Cholul and San Jose Tzal.
