Sumario:This essay identifies and analyzes the characteristics of the daily life of workers in Xcumpich, a henequén hacienda of Yucatán, at the beginning of 20th century. It explores the main problems those workers experienced, the situations that made their life bearable, as well as the benefits they received by living in the hacienda, including health care and preferential treatment for the elderly. Finally, it determines the role played by the chapel and housing in the life of the hacienda inhabitants.
