| Sumario: | This paper aims to discuss whether we can conceive a set of texts grouped by the denomination “health tips” as a specific genre. Therefore, we will present some theoretical appointments on text typology, emphasizing the conceptualization of genre. Studies on textual superstructures (Van Dijk; Travaglia), the general typology of texts (Travaglia), and the discourse community (Swales) also provide the theoretical basis for our reflections and analysis. We analyzed twenty samples of folders with "health tips" in leaflet format, as well as a magazine article and a TV show which bring in one of their sections something similar to what we found in the leaflets. After making qualitative analysis, we concluded that such texts can be conceived as a wider genre due to other "tips" that do not touch on health issues. |
