| Sumario: | Jorge Enrique Adoum (1926-2009) wrote this text for the work Quito's Light Always Alive, presented on August 1 at the Independence Plaza in Quito. The poet follows a sequential order in recalling the action that took place in Quito. The principal characters are: memories of the insurgent barrios; the historical milestone of August 10, 1809, heralding the nation's destiny; the ephemeral print of the Creole government, the massacre, and the women of the revolution. This was his last literary production as he died on July 3rd, a week after its completion. |
