Sumario:Portuguese political and social historiography showed little interestin the minorities of the Portuguese past in spite of the relevant presenceof African prisoners and Afrodescendants in the XV, XVI and XVIIcenturies. This article comments on Isabel Braga´s book: “Mouriscos ecristaos no Portugal quinhentista, duas culturas e duas concepçoesreligiosas em choque”, which depicts an important profile of theMoorish population based on the documentation of the Inquisition. The historical narrative of the author is also analyzed as a record ofthe reason of the relative historiographic silence on the Portuguese-Jewish, Portuguese-Islamic and Portuguese-African commnunities.
