Sumario:The notion of “cultural diversity” gained renewed vigor in the economic policies of the last decades in programs of international, national and local agencies. This article examines how local government institutions build, define and manage “indigenous otherness” in the heritage field in the municipalities of Tartagal (province of Salta) and Lago Puelo (province of Chubut). The purpose is to discuss and provide a panorama of some directions in which the current policy is moving in different local contexts in Argentina, in which daily interethnic interactions take place and those changes are experienced or not.
