Sumario:This paper analyzes the effects of the tornado that took place in on August 6, 2014 in the city of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, and seeks to contribute to understanding the disastrous consequences of this phenomenon in the area. A theoretical approach based on Social Vulnerability was used to analyze the destructive forces associated with these tornadoes within the affected area, as well as the susceptibility of the population and its institutional structures . The study reveals high vulnerability associated with the lack of a preventive public policy to protect citizens.
