Sumario:The aim of the article is to know the impact of oil on Mexico’s foreign policy from the stage known as the oil boom to the present, when it coincides with the neoliberal model in Mexico. The paper shows the most important actions of the administration of Vicente Fox on oil and its foreign policy. The author poses as a main thesis that the neoliberal governments have remained distant as a transcendent act or make decisions hat alter the dynamics of international oil, focusing its efforts on consolidating itself as the provider of insurance in the United States and implement domestic policies aimed at Mexican oil privatization, through the structural dismantling of Petroleos Mexicanos.
