Sumario:This article proposes a reflection on the contemporary experience of time in the streets of Sao Paulo Metropolis, especially with regard to the general feeling of hurry, a fact socially constructed. The increasing acceleration of time, from the period of the motorman to that of the motoboy, resulted in the emptying both of the narrative and the shared experience.Fruit of the current stage of the city, the motoboy character seems to live under a constant risk that goes beyond physical death: the risk of symbolic.death. The history of Sao Paulo through by the voices of motorman and the motoboy may reveal that in about 40 years between these two urban characters the city is dehumanizing and gradually losing what gives meaning to social life, which is the face-to-face encounter.
