Sumario:This article discusses the relationship between culture and violence in the social sciences, specifically violence in schools, from the ambiguous understanding of violence, their positivity and negativity, as limiting individual action in favor of collective life, but with destructive. The emphasis is given to the everyday acts, incivilities, the destructive aspect of violence manifests itself. Presenting findings from qualitative research conducted with public school teachers, it was found that the teachers' actions in the face of violence at school influence in favor (or not) of a culture of peace and stressed the importance of considering the complexity of the plots on the theme of violence in the social sciences.
