Sumario:This article presents how national modernization is linked to patrimonialism in Brazil, based on the references of Raymundo Faoro. It will also be verified the important contribution of Max Weber to the development of concepts theorized by Raymundo Faoro. The objective is to show the historical relationship between our institutions and the way they are conducted for the consolidation of the State and society in Brazil.
