Sumario:This paper presents the results of the UBACYT research project Prevalence of Violence against Women: An Alternative Approach from the Health Care Field, carried out in a Public Hospital´s Maternity and Obstetrics Service in the City of Buenos Aires (Argentina). The study sought to identify the social representations and attitudes of medical-obstetrics discourse as regards domestic violence against women (etiological explanations, affected populations, intervention strategies), and create a typology of social representations in medical-obstetrics discourse as regards domestic violence. Based on semi-structured interviews to the Hospital´s practitioners, the questions were developed according to the different sectors in which they perform their professional task: outpatients´ offices, delivery, and inpatients.
