Sumario:The objective of this article is to verify the existence of party recruitment patterns for members of the Standing Committees in the Brazilian House of Representatives during the legislature from 1995 to 1999. The hypothesis is that the standing committees system leads parties to recruit Representatives who can maximize their objectives in the committees. The study’s methodology involved the construction of indicators related to the Representatives’ partisan political careers. The study’s main conclusion is that the Representatives’ partisan political careers are observed in the recruitment for committees.
