Sumario:This paper offers an approach to the concept of educational quality, its characteristics and the main factors influencing it. The Colombian case is analyzed; thereafter the National Education Department has been seen to lack trusting instruments to control education as well as a concrete and clear definition to evaluate the quality of public education in primary basic education (grammar school).
