Sumario:This paper deals with the political party system prevailing in the last years in Peru. It studies Fujimorism?s characteristics as a regime and form of government, the weakening in the conditions for political competition and pluralism, as well as the consequences of all this on a democracy that finally died. Considering this experience, an analysis is also made of the questioned elections of the year 2000 and of its possible outcomes.
