| Sumario: | The work reviews cultural research in Mexico, using as its underlying framework certain parameters of culture theory and certain traditional classifications in this area. From this starting point, the author identifies the main axes of cultural studies in this country, especially from the Seventies on. He also points out the congenital weakness of Mexican cultural studies when analyzed from an epistemological perspective that goes beyond purely descriptive levels. The conclusion identifies the external factors that have conditioned and limited these socio-cultural studies and some ways of overcoming the narrowness of the framework within which they have been carried out up until the present. |
