Sumario:This article outlines a research program focused on the performative role of social sciences: they do not merely describe reality, but jointly contribute to build it. For this purpose, this article seeks to expose possibilities of complementation between the studies on the performativity of science undertaken by Callon, MacKenzie and others, and Foucaults studies on governmentality, as unfolded in his last seminars. Two ways for the performativity of the social sciences intertwined with governmentality are distinguished: the positivist construction of data and the interpretative elaboration of narrative accounts, both employed by the State and corporations for the government of conducts. In addition, certain mechanisms that make the performative drift of scientific constructionspossible, which shape social reality, are specified.
