Sumario:Since the end of 1992, an interdisciplinary group of researchers from several institutions have been conducting a research action project in the Guarijío / Makurawe region in Sonora, with the purpose of formulating a health care model applicable to the indigenous groups in the location. Several strategies and methods were applied, following the focus of the Local Health Systems (Sistemas Locales de Salud-SILOS), and outlined according to the discipline of interest of each of the team members. As a result, a proposal was issued to realize a situation analysis of the region selected for this study, divided in 9 points with their corresponding action lines or strategy proposals. The constructed model shows that the interdependence of the phenomena implied in the health/sickness process in this indigenous region is worthy of an interdisciplinary study capable of explaining the particularity acquired by this process in the situation diagnosis of a region defined as intercultural, as well as a model of integral attention based on the concourse of the available resources, the diversification of the productive activities and other actions where an intersectorial focus is called for and that require the participation of the local inhabitants for their fulfillment.
