En el presente trabajo presentaremos un análisis del habla rural de la población criolla campesina en la provincia de Jujuy. El estudio se centra en un expediente judicial que data del año 1823. Intentaremos mostrar la presencia de la utilización de una variedad del español en el discurso oral y donde se encuentran numerosos rasgos lingüísticos utilizados por la literatura gauchesca argentina, la denominamos “gauchesca” porque los que hablan, en este caso, se identifican a si mismos como tal. Consideramos que el presente expone algunos actores sociales en el contexto de guerra e independencia que vivía Jujuy por aquellos años.
