Sumario:Mini-cities are mixed-use projects that aim to follow some principles of New Urbanism to replicate the dynamics of a traditional historic city. The case of Ciudad Cayalá (Guatemala) is studied to discuss its offer of alternative urban leisure in public spaces deliberately designed as fake hyperrealities. It is ruled out that these spaces of public use serve as scenarios of conflict or urban struggles.
