Sumario:This paper studies the figure of the sub-delegate, animportant local agent in the relationship between the HispanicKing and American hispanic cities. This official hasn’t beenconsidered enough by historiography.The main purpose of this research is to specify the powers andattributes of the sub-delegate of San Miguel de Tucumán. Itis considered that these were the result of negotiation betweenlaws and the concrete exercise of its authority in relation to thecouncil, cabildo, to achieve consensus rather than a conflictivecompetition.
