| Sumario: | The democratic government of Raúl Alfonsín (1983-1989) took office within a framework of broad political and economic restrictions. One of the main ones was the foreign debt, an issue that sparked a debate on economic illicit activities and which has received less historical research. In this paper, we prioritize this debate by highlighting the role of the Investigative Commission that investigated the allegedly illicit process of nationalization of the Ítalo energy company. We argue that the Ítalo case was a product of the government’s initial emphasis on investigating the dictatorship’s economic illicit activities, although it was ultimately dismissed and forgotten due to the lack of concrete political support. |
