Sumario:The visitation made by Bishop Lué y Riega to the diocese of Buenos Aires between 1803 and 1805 provides an invaluable image of the economic, political and institutional state of the Rio de la Plata Church at the beginning of the 19th century. In this article, we focus on two particular aspects: on the one hand, the reforms in burial practices (especially the creation of extra-urban cemeteries), and on the other, the visit of testaments and pious legacies. Through these, we analyze the impact of the Bourbon ecclesiastical reforms and their implementation in the region at the end of the colonial period.
