| Sumario: | The emergence in fin-de-siècle Argentina of the planned city of La Plata raises an interrelation of this creative act with the scientific knowledge that generated it and that later became part of the dynamics of an urban centre in constant growth. Thinking about the role of Medicine in this process during three decades in which the population of La Plata grew from 5,000 to 100,000 inhabitants, this work investigates the deployment in health care and in the formation of knowledge, on the singular support of what was understood as a “hygienic city”. |
