| Sumario: | The unusual activity of Mexico’s Royal Court commissioner sent to the court of Madrid, reveals the nuances and complexities of the justice’s government in Spanish America during the XVII century. Furthermore, the conditions of the appointment, the tasks in Castile and the Commissioner’s wealth and economic activity allow us to understand that, by representing the royal magistrates, Dr Hernán Carrillo Altamirano represented the interests of his realm and in which the judge’s authority rested. Finally, the case provides elements on the diversity of agents concurred in the royal courts. |
