The reactions of both opposition and support arising in society around the project are an interesting way of analyzing the new web of relationships. In this article we evaluate how this project impacted society, what kind of reactions were expressed by the different social actors, how they were aligned and which were the intervention strategies deployed by each sector. El proyecto de ley de divorcio vincular presentado por Olivera entre 1901 y 1902 y su rechazo se considera como un indicador de una reconfiguración de las relaciones entre las elites dirigentes y la Iglesia Católica. Las reacciones tanto de oposición como de apoyo surgidas en la sociedad en torno al proyecto constituyen un prisma interesante para observar el nuevo entramado de relaciones. En el trabajo se evalúa cómo impactó este proyecto en la sociedad, qué tipo de reacciones manifestaron los distintos actores sociales, cómo se alinearon y cuáles fueron las estrategias de intervención desplegadas por cada sector.
