Sumario:This article analyzes Pedro E. Pico’s life and work. Pico was a member of the Argentine Socialist Party, as well as an important author of commercial theatre in the first half of the twentieth century. In doing so, the main goal is to discuss the ties between left culture and mass culture, and the way these ties have been characterized by a broad spectrum of the literature devoted to the subject. The fact that these two sides of his activity were not found as contradictory for him in his carrer brings up new questions to examine the linkage between cultural practices and entertainment in the early half of the twentieth century in Argentina.
