The support of the Military Junta contributes to the success of the Teletón televised campaign. In return, the broadcast fits perfectly into the dictatorship's propaganda strategy, naturalizing its economic options and building political legitimacy in its favor. The support of the de facto government is inserted in a neoliberal strategy that dismantles and reduces direct public action in the disability sector and that encourages the development of private associations. In order to achieve our purpose, we start from the analysis of a corpus of primary sources that we collected in the Archive of the International Labor Organization, the National Archive of the Administration, as well as documents belonging to the Sociedad Pro-Ayuda al Niño Lisiado and to other associations in the National Library of Chile. We have also consulted press releases that cover the broadcasts of the first five Telethons, which took place between 1978-1982, and the videos available on YouTube of them.
