Thus, the article refers to the need to construct educational policies more adequate to multiple realities existing in the school, it is necessary to discuss not only the role of the teacher within his work practices, as well as the living and working conditions that have been presented to these professionals of education, analyzing for that their self-perception and appreciation by the rescue of their life histories, their voices and symbols constructed throughout the teaching profession. Este trabajo fue producido como resultado de las reflexiones propuestas en una materia del doctorado, con objetivo reflexionar, dentro de una perspectiva filosófica, sobre el método “historia de vida”, para comprenderlos fenómenos sociales, engran medida, aquellos que involucranlaeducación y los problemas que larodean. Así, el artículo señala que para construir políticas educativas más adecuadas a múltiples realidades existentes enlaescuela, se necesita discutir y repensar no sóloel papel delprofesor dentro de sus prácticas de trabajo, así como las condiciones de vida y de trabajo que se han presentados a esosprofisionales de laeducación, analizando, para esosuauto-percepción y valoración mediante elrescate de sus historias de vida, sus voces y símbolos construidos a lo largo de laprofesión docente.
