Sumario:This article offers an interpretative reading of the short story “El recuerdo del futuro” by Uruguayan writer Dani Umpi, approached through an interdisciplinary theoretical framework that highlights the contributions of scholars such as Raewyn Connell, Kali Holloway, and Diana Fuss. The story portrays an encounter between two characters that enables one of them to perform a different way of being and existing in the world, one that challenges traditional gender roles and subverts hegemonic notions of masculinity. Our analysis is grounded in a perspective on masculinities within an interdisciplinary theoretical context, emphasizing the works of Raewyn Connell, Kali Holloway, and Diana Fuss.
