Sumario:The present paper seeks to carry out a rational reconstruction of a historical event, such as the emergence of molecular biology, seen in the light of Thomas Kuhn's philosophy. Although several authors have pointed out the inadequacy of the metatheoretical proposal of The Structure (even with the 69’s Postscript fixes), we postulate that a reconstruction of the origin of this (sub)discipline is feasible under the categories of paradigm-disciplinary matrix and normal science with some refinements. We intend to show the emergence of a new paradigm as the convergence of two lines of research, one on the shape of the molecule of life, the other on its hereditary function.
